Another Goodbye

This morning I feel happy but also sad - kind of a strange feeling that makes my skin tingle. After breakfast I take another shot of the family.

Then it’s time to say one more goodbye. Don’t know why but this one is hard, I get all choked up when the gate closes and I’m in my car again.

Today I’m gonna drive to Williams, AZ so I can visit the Grand Canyon again.
Still a long ways to drive...

Here is an example of a modern Ranch called “Kicking Ass Ranch” - you gotta love that one!

Then it is the highway...

There are all these little Indian art stores along the higway

Now I’m crossing the state line and am in Arizona, one of my favorites!

The sun is still up and I’m getting closer.

I get a nice room tonight and am looking forward to the Canyon tomorrow.

Once I’m settled in I go down Main Street to the same restaurant I dined last year...

After a great meal I stroll back to my room.

Last shows of the tour

I get up early and get everything packed up before I head out to play a little Spiritual Center in the outskirts of Albuquerque

With the time change and Daylight savings it is the first time I’m actually too late! They are sweet and put me right in when I arrive.

After that I’ll drive back towards Santa Fe. My very last show for this tour is a first time house concert in Cerrillos, a little community South of Santa Fe.

The drive becomes spectacular when I have a 13 mile dirt road stretch - where the heck am I!!!

Cerrillos looks like like a lost Western town - all that is missing are the tumble weeds.

I have a little trouble finding Wendy’s and Todd’s house but finally succeed.
They are sweet!!! The actual concert is at Wendy’s parents house in the back country - wow, I thought I’m already there:)
Frank and Sandy, Wendy’s parents are just wonderful and have a great house overlooking the valley. It is their first concert of hopefully many to come.
They have a wonderful guest room for me. I know I’m gonna sleep well!

Frank built an addition to the house and once Wendy saw it she started imagining concerts here and...

Here I’m out with Frank and Wendy looking for some folks that announced themselves coming on horseback.

For a first time concert I have a good crowd of lovely folks!

After a long evening with lots of conversations I’m ready to drop...
I feel satisfied and happy that I did it and will be on my way home by tomorrow.

Santa Fe and Albuquerque

Today we spend some time downtown Santa Fe. I love the artsy feeling the Galleries, and the distinct look of the city, it’s just beautiful

After lunch in a little sweet restaurant I have to get on my way to Albuquerque where I play tonight at the Solid Grounds Coffeehouse. I was there last year and they invited me back:) So after saying goodbye to my friends I’m back on the road again...

I have a nice crowd at the venue and the show is going really well.

After that I check into a little motel close to the highway. Tomorrow I have to go back to Cerrillos, a little village close to Santa Fe where I play a house concert.
It’ll be the last show of my tour...

Leaving Texas

Today Danny, Monika and me are leaving for Santa Fe but first I have to get rid of the snow...

It’s about a six to seven hour drive through the TX plains. Not a lot to look but...

Once we are closer to Santa Fe the mountains come out and greet us - ahhhh finally back!

We have a reservation for a motel so we don’t have to worry about looking around. Later that evening we go out for a fantastic dinner at Castros, a local mexican place. By far the best Mexican food ever! Wow, I didn’t know that these flavors even existed. Too bad I left the camera back in the motel. Well, tomorrow is another day.

South Plains College

This morning I have a performance and talk in Levelland at the South Plains College and have to leave the Canyon early.

Somehow I started to like the plains...

The College has a wonderful arts program where students learn music, recording, video production and every aspect of being an independent musician and artist. This facility could easily be in Manhatten! It is amazing.
They have a wonderful performance space and I’m looking forward to do my thing:)

Cary Banks is my liaison and shows me around. We connect instantly!

After I speak in a classroom for an hour we go out and have lunch in a little BBQ place. After that we return and I play a performance. After that I talk more about being a musician and answer all kinds of questions. The students are great and love what I’m doing. It’s good to know that I can touch and inspire the younger folks as well:)

Before I leave I drop in a music room where a group just has a rehearsal playing “Pretty Woman” - how cool is that!!!

I’m totally stoked about the day and fly high for the rest of the evening.

In the Livingroom with Tredway & Friends

Today I have a Podcast in Waxahatchie - cool name for a place, isn’t it?! But first we have the best breakfast of the whole tour, Margaret makes her famous Fritata and we have fresh fruit, Salmon and strong Coffee - oh how I love that!

Time to say goodbye - I made wonderful new friends here and am looking forward to my next visit in Dallas.

It’s a 40 minute drive and Randy and Helen already expect me. They do this show since years. Here is Randy tuning his guitar.

The show is recorded straight into the computer.

It goes really well and I enjoy the intimate setting with a small audience right in the living room.

One last shot before I leave for Lubbock.

Soon after that I’m back on the Highway. I’m so tired that I get one of these powerdrinks - never ever again!!! I’m so wired and drive like a maniac. Let’s see if I can get the car to do 100mph. It works, but don’t tell anybody:)
Everything is flying by.

It’s a 6 hour drive and soon the sun goes down.

When I finally reach my friends house in Ransom Canyon I’m totally wiped and ready for sleeping. I hardly keep my eyes open.
