Kerrville Folk Festival

I had exactly 18h after coming back to Seattle from CA before I had to fly out to Texas. It’s early and I’m still half asleep. I hope they treat my guitar well...

After landing in San Antonio and getting a rental I drive to Kerrville to stay a night with my friends Paula and Marty. Hmmmm dinner...

The next day I drive over to the ranch. It’s huge and I have to get oriented. Today 16 of the 32 finalists present their two songs. My turn is tomorrow:)
Here is the host Steve Gillette.

California Autoharp Gathering

I was invited back to Dunlap, CA to the 3rd annual California Autoharp gathering. I’m mostly teaching guitar and play several sets. It’s a lovely place and I’m glad to be back. Here are some of my friends:)

Fresno Art Museum

Today is the big show in Fresno - I really hope we can sell out! But for breakfast I meet with Phil and Ashley our lawyer in Sacramento.

After that I drive the 3h to Fresno and start setting up at the bonner.

It’s a great room

Wow, we do sell out and have a fantastic show!

Sacramento

Wow, I have a terrible hangover - didn’t realize that I had too much, so when everybody has a little something for breakfast I just stay out of the way and watch.

Then we’re on the way North to Sacramento

The show is in Placerville, a little gold mining town.

Phil comes to visit from San Jose

and we stay in a little motel in town.

Berkeley

Today is the show in Berkeley but first I meet my best buddy James - he’s on his way North to play in my neck of the woods:)

Then I’m off into the Bay Area

Love Berkeley - I might move here someday...

It’s a neat little house concert with full band!

and very nice folks...

After that we’re invited to Mike Marshall’s house for a late dinner. He’s cooking up a storm:)

And for sure no party without music...

The mountain

I leave around 10 am after a good night sleep. I’ll keep it simple and plan to go drive just past Mt Shasta, so lets get going...

I just love the views down Highway 5

On the way to California I need to cross the Siskiyou Pass

Love the view coming up to the top

On the other side I can see the mountain from a distance. I’ve seen this many, many times but still I’m fascinated.

And getting closer

and closer

I make a stop in Mt Shasta and visit with Tom at the Stage Door.
Then I have to say good by to the mountain and head for the valley.

I find another Motel 6 in North Redding and call it a day.
